Georgia Jones Decker is married to Don Decker and they are the parents of 5 children. She is the daughter of Clyde and Maryon Jones, and was born in California and raised in Washington along with her 3 siblings. Her family moved to Bothell when Georgia entered 7th grade.
Georgia met Don in 1960 while they were counselors for 60 kids going to a Luther League convention in Milwaukee, WI. They were married in 1961 just after both graduated from school. Georgia graduated in Biblical Studies from the Lutheran Bible Institute.
While living in Madison, Wisconsin, Georgia was rostered in the Lutheran Church as an Associate in Ministry...Minister of Word and Service. She served at Burke Lutheran Church for 8 years.
After reaching Upland, CA. Georgia had more time with 4 of the children on their own and completed her BA in Religious Studies at University of LaVerne and a Masters in Leadership/Management. She continued extended studies in Discipleship and Greek at Fuller Theological Seminary.
While in Upland Georgia served for 14 years at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Mission Viejo, CA. as Director of Christian Education and Volunteer Ministry. She was the founder of many programs, including the annual Drive-Thru-Nativity, where each year at Christmas over 1,400 cars with over 5,000 people in 2 nights see the Christmas story. She continues to teach Bible classes, seminars and speaks at conferences and retreats.
Her passion in "retirement" is working as an advisor/board member and grant writer for Bennett Chapel Family Ministry in Center, TX. This ministry serves adopted/foster children and youth/families in rural east Texas. This ministry has become a mutual blessing for both her family and the many families of Bennett Chapel and their friends.
